Systems merging after recognition using 5.0.3
Here is my problem:
1. I am using a 1951 version of Sousa's Stars and Stripes Forever 1st Clarinet Part. My goal is to create a full conductor score by exporting each instrument into Finale 2006c for Windows.
2. I scan each part using an Epson 3490 Scanner. Each part is scanned using the Epson Scanner Software.
3. I launch Smartscore 5.0.3 and recognize scan of 1st Clarinet Part. The part is printed on marching band size paper suitable for a flip folder.
4. During recognition, the 1st 2 staves (systems) are combined into 1 system pretty much like a piano part.
5. When I am doing ENF editting the program crashes at times or does not let me try to correct the problem. When I delete that system to create a new one, the program crashes.
6. How do I get rid of the "Nylon Guitar" on the part. It is becoming very annoying.
7. Any help would be appreciated. If I need to send you the file, please tell me where I will need to send it so I can send you the scanned file and the ENF file as well.
Please help if you can.
James

Re: Systems merging after recognition using 5.0.3
Forgot to add that this scan merging appears in other parts as well. The 1st Clarinet Part is not the only one.

Re: Systems merging after recognition using 5.0.3
James,
System definition is arguably the most important aspect of SmartScore's recognition process. The lines that define a system serve as a map for other characters to be placed. Hence, inaccuracy in system layout can likely cause instability in an ENF file.
Consequently, such issues are best resolved in the image file. Sometimes, markings like rehearsal markings, especially those in boxes, can trick SmartScore into thinking the system bracketing should be connecting the two systems.
Also, look for distortion in the margins. Foreign markings, like those caused from light leakage during scannig, are sure to throw off SmartScore.
If you continue to have issues, please email us the TIFF.
