What to do with staves sharing notes ?

For piano parts, there are notes which technically belong to BOTH staves in the original score. But in SmartScore notes must belong only to ONE staff. Must this result to lots of work?

I don't mind notating some of the music myself, but since the program doesn't understand this (rather standard) notation, I'm required to do a lot of math, adding the right number of pauses to make up for the gaps, after making a call to which staff each note should belong, aaand solving problems which seem downright impossible with SmartScore, such as:

First and foremost, SmartScore is designed as a scanning app with music recognition, and not a complete notation app.

That being said, you need to brush up on your counting, before blaming the program. In your second example, you have too many beats in the upper staff, by one eighth. Also, read up on cross staff notation in the manual. The staves are treated separately. The 16th note you dragged to the lower staff has nothing to do with the number of beats in that staff. What you need to count there is the eighth rest, and the two 16th notes and the 16th rest. So to enter the lower staff correctly, you need the eighth rest, and then a hidden eighth rest, hidden 16th rest, and the visible 16ths at the end.

One can beg to differ about convention, but I count eight sixteenth notes in the second example:

https://imgur.com/FUzYI4L

The blue notes in the image constitute a total of eight sixteenth notes, which is the right amount. The eight note (red note) doesn't appear to represent the same "voice" as the other notes in the upper staff (as indicated by the entry of a sixteenth rest above it).

I imagine the way you'd notate this is to change the eight note (red color) into two sixteenth notes linked with a tie. But that would make things confusing with respect to the arpeggio (jagged line), wouldn't it?

But that kinds of cases are relatively uncommon. What I'm mainly concerned about is: do I have to count everything by hand to fill in the hidden rests, as there are pieces which can contain hundreds of measures of cross-staff notation as seen in the first example?
(I was well aware that SmartScore treats staves separately and the that notes "visiting" another staff have nothing to do with the beats of that staff.)

In answer to the basic question: No. As far as I know, SSP doesn’t have a “fill measures with rests” function, like Finale does.

Well, maybe I need to come up with a new way to deal with things, so I can avoid to count everything by hand. By the way, this was from the piano part of Schönberg's Septet Op. 29 (1925). Schönberg's music is usually not considered rhythmically complex, at least not any more than Beethoven or Schubert is, although his piano writing is dense.
