Scoring a drum part
I'm getting woeful results when I try to recognise a drum part.
What is the procedure to recognise a drum part?

Wow, gotta say that I've never tried that!
That said, I did just go and take a look at the "Using SmartScoreX" PDF manual (which can be downloaded from the help menu, and is highly recomended reading as far as I'm concerned.
Unfortunately, I'm still using the original SSX version, not the newer SSX2, but I'm sure the newer verstion will also cover this. In my version there is an entire subsection, "9.3 Editing and creating percussion parts" that appears to have quite a lot of useful information.
EDIT: One important point is that you have to have the option "Recognize Tab and Percussion Staff Lines" checked in the Recognition Options dialog!
If you can't find it, post back and hopefully someone with the newer version and point you to it--there's not a lot of traffic on the forum lately and so many of us don't check in as frequently.
