how do you put a fermata over the last bar line?
Transposing the bass clarinet parts in A into bass clarinet parts for Bb bass clarinet for "Pictures at an Exhibition". Many of the movements end with a bar line and a fermata over them. Is there a way to do this? I have only been able to get fermatas over objects in a measure (notes, rests).

Re: how do you put a fermata over the last bar line?
I don't think you can add it to a barline only to objects like notes, rests as you discovered.
You could write "Pause" but I know this isn't what you want to do. You could ask Support (tech@[sign in to see URL]) by email and maybe request it for future implementation if they agree it can't be done.
Another one I can't find is the caesura (railroad tracks)but you can fake it with two text slashes.
SmartScore has a lot of good features but it is weak in some areas. This is why those SS users who also have programs like Finale, Sibelius, etc do the scanning and needed corrections in SS and then import the XML file into the other program for the finishing touches. If you don't have those programs already it is another expense.
Try this if you are adventurous
I think Chopin11 is the SS symbol font.
Create a text style in the SS Edit Text Styles... menu item. When the font information pops up select Chopin11 Bold and 36 for size. You can change any of these parameters later. Save the Text Style with a name such as Chopin11-36 or whatever you wish.
In your score near the desired barline go into Text mode and enter a | character. This is Shift-Backslash (it won't print in this forum post) on my keyboard in Windows.
Select the | character using the Select button on the toolbar or the O command. Go to Edit - Text Styles. You should see your Chopin11-36 or whatever you called it font; select it and click OK. This should change the | to a fermata character. By pressing Shift key to bring up the dot handles you should be able to position it like any other text.
I can't say how well-behaved this fermata "text: symbol is as far as staying in place when you move things etc but it might be worth a try and shouldn't be any different than othe text. If this is a problem you can always add them as the very last editing step.

I was able to do it, using the Maestro font from Finale as a text insert.

(Has anybody figured out how to insert a picture/screenshot into the post?)
