I find that “unconfusing” SmartScore is the best approach, so I scan without text, lyrics, or anything else that might confuse the issue. They are much easier to deal with in Finale, while correcting durations, notes, voices, staff linking, and tuplets are way better on SmartScore. Needless to say, the better you know both programs, the more refined your workflow will be.nondisclosed_email@example.com (mikey12045)Sun, 28 Jan 2018 10:41:25 +0000 Re: Metronome mark notes interpreted as staff noteshttps://bsmartscoreusertechresources.runboard.com/p215157,from=rss#post215157https://bsmartscoreusertechresources.runboard.com/p215157,from=rss#post215157That's unfortunate they didn't carry over to Sibelius. I was curious so I tried a test case with Finale 25 and they did survive the XML import into Finale. At least you know it isn't worth the effort now and there are probably other things as well. Mikey12045, a Finale user, doesn't bother with lyrics or perhaps text for his work which ultimately gets fed into Finale for the completed job. What is important that the note values/measure, repeats, and other things that deal with the basic structure are in good order. Finale, and likely Sibelius and others, assume these things are correct so correcting them in those products can be more difficult. SmartScore on the other hand can handle them because it knows things don't always scan well. SmartScore is optimized for correcting scans the other products are optimized for note entry from scratch.nondisclosed_email@example.com (ZootS)Sat, 27 Jan 2018 16:07:52 +0000 Re: Metronome mark notes interpreted as staff noteshttps://bsmartscoreusertechresources.runboard.com/p215156,from=rss#post215156https://bsmartscoreusertechresources.runboard.com/p215156,from=rss#post215156Thank ZootS. There are actually quite a number of them in this particular piece, but it appears that deleting and re-entering is the way to go. I don't care about playback; my concerns were 1) making sure the measures had the correct number of beats; and 2) having the metronome marks survive the transition to Sibelius via XML. Unfortunately, the latter didn't work, so the time I spent entering them in SmartScore was wasted. Next time I'll just delete them.nondisclosed_email@example.com (bobk2)Sat, 27 Jan 2018 14:32:22 +0000 Re: Metronome mark notes interpreted as staff noteshttps://bsmartscoreusertechresources.runboard.com/p215154,from=rss#post215154https://bsmartscoreusertechresources.runboard.com/p215154,from=rss#post215154I always just delete them and then put in the tempo setting (note=number)from the SmartScore palette and then add any text if desired. t Since they are usually few it's not much of an effort. The main reason for this is the SS temp setting is an entity the program understands and will adjust the tempo on playback. If it is just a regular note and some text, the playback does not honor it.nondisclosed_email@example.com (ZootS)Fri, 26 Jan 2018 06:38:50 +0000 Metronome mark notes interpreted as staff noteshttps://bsmartscoreusertechresources.runboard.com/p215153,from=rss#post215153https://bsmartscoreusertechresources.runboard.com/p215153,from=rss#post215153I'm new to SmartScore X2. Imported a 13-page PDF of a solo cello piece. Several of the tempo changes include both text and a metronome mark, like Lento followed by (quarter note symbol) = 48 In each case, Smart Score seems to interpret the note as a staff note rather than part of the metronome mark. Yet, if I understand correctly, it also seems attached to the text, in that if I deleted the note, the text went away too. Is there a way to fix this, or should I just delete it all and enter it manually? Thanks! Bobnondisclosed_email@example.com (bobk2)Thu, 25 Jan 2018 18:49:34 +0000
