Scanning music using a network scanner/copier I'm connected to at my church

If I want to scan music using the network scanner/copier/fax machine I'm connected to at my church, would the church secretary's (main) computer need to have Notepad installed?

I'm not clear on just what you are using/doing. Are you referring to Finale Notepad, their free music notation program?

If so, Finale Notepad can only import MIDI or MusicXML files. Scanners will only produce files like .TIF or JPG and perhaps some other graphics formats but they are all useless to Notepad.

If you are using SmartScore to scan and wanted to get the music into Notepad you would scan the original music and save it as a .TIF file which can be moved to a different computer by whatever means available.

Read the .TIF file into Smartscore, perhaps correct it, and save it as a MusicXML file or a MIDI file which can then be imported into Finale Notepad. The above method means that the only program that need be on the church secretary's computer is a scanning program that will save the scans as .TIF file.

Or are you thinking of doing something different.
