X2 10.5.8 Win 10 crashes on save as Midi format 1

Trying to save an ENF as MIDI format 1 or 0, crashes after answering 'articulation' question, with no error message. Saves most other ENFs as MID with no issues. Score plays fine, no notation errors are highlit. It'd be great if this would just tell me what the error is and, say, abort the save rather than a hard crash. Any ideas? I love this product in spite of these kinds of issue, so I'm committed. The PC is a powerful one that I also use to run ProTools, though no other app is running when this crash occurs.

I don't know any definite answer but it sounds like there is something screwy in that particular file.

Is it the only one that does it or are there others?

Can you save it as XML and then import the XML file into the program which might take something confused in the current enf out of the picture.

If you can't save as XML you might try copying the bars and pasting into a new score that has the same key and time signature.

You may have to send the file to Musitek support if nobody has a solution on this user board. Musitek staff are not frequent visitors here.

Thx. I exported to XML and took that result into Finale, no issues there. I may try exporting to MIDI as individual tracks, if only to isolate the offending track(s). I take the MIDI output into a ProTools session and add live instruments over it, a method that has worked quite well.

Glad you have a workable solution.

Did you try importing XML back into a new SmarScore enf and then trying the MIDI save as a matter of interest? Could be someting obscure got screwed up in the SS database or guts that didn't affect playback or display but the MIDI file save couldn't understand.

Thanks. Solved this. A key signature inadvertently made it into a percussion line. Try to output that as MIDI and it crashes, with no error message. Remove the key sigs (no small feat, Event View is hopelessly slow so I had to just recreate the staves) and Save as MID works fine.
