Lyrics and MIDI export not working right
Hi all,
I have scanned a score in with multiple lines of lyrics. Lyric recognition was OK enough and I managed to get the repeats and goto CODAs working correctly. The form of the score is AABAC which can be a bit bizarre getting all the repeat pointers just right.
Playing the song back using SS5 midi player the entire sequence is intact and the lyrics are all where they should be.
Problem 1: Lost Lyrics from repeated lines:
I save the file as a MIDI type 0 or 1, with or without the articulations selected. Upon importing the MIDI file into SONAR3 I see that the first line of lyrics gets repeated over 3 times with the remaining 2 verses lost.
FWIW I import into SONAR so I can add audio and various MIDI tracks as well as more specific voicing for the various synthesizers and it makes life easier for various editing features that I’m way too familiar with.
Problem 2: Stuck notes when exporting from SS5 with articulations selected:
When exporting with the articulations option; looking at the piano roll in Sonar shows that notes randomly start to get stuck on until the end of the song. This isn't quite as noticeable using a percussive sound but if an organ or flute sound is used then it becomes a cacophony of heterodynes buy the end. The Piano Roll view in SS5 looks normal.
--------------------------------------------------------------
So it seems that the score is recognized correctly and that all the lyrics are where they should be while in SS5 environment and the exported MIDI is much different.
In my current state of re-learning how to use SS5 am I exporting MIDI and Lyrics wrong or is this a bug?

Re: Lyrics and MIDI export not working right
Joni,
We'd like to see a file representing the lyric issue. If you get a chance, email it to us.
Items like lyrics and more specifically, articulations are typically created differently from one application to the next. There is no standard MIDI command to simulate playback for an accent, or slur, or a tenuto, etc... Because of this, odd things can happen when using MIDI format as a medium for compatibility between applications. This is the reason for the option "remove articulations".

Re: Lyrics and MIDI export not working right
Hi All,
For those looking at his particular string...
It looks like it is best to export (or import) the MIDI file as a type 1 and convert it to type 0 with some other program if needed. Exporting type 1 MIDI appears to have corrected the stuck notes problem for the music I had submitted.
Importing type 1 MIDI files will allow SS5 to seperate out the various MIDI channels properly for the MIDI display window. (For those of you who use Yamaha PSR type keyboards, they all, with the exception of TYROS and PSR3000 want to see a type 0 MIDI file.)
The question about lyrics still seems to be unanswered. Has any one else had problems with music in an AABA format where the lyric lines change with each iteration of repeat?

Re: Lyrics and MIDI export not working right
Yes I'm having the same problem with version 5.2. Lyrics for Verse 1 is getting repeated when I save as a midi file even though there are different words for verse 2 and karaoke view correctly moves to verse 2 lyrics when the whole file is played through. It used to work fine in the older version...
