First measure spacing
I work alot with older ('shortcut' printed) music which does not bother with clefs or key signatures on each line. SS, of course, inserts these 'niceties' on each line and thereby jams up the spacing in this measure. I'm sure there must be a way to correct this, but I sure can't figure it out.

Re: First measure spacing
If this is scanned music, go to Edit> Document Preferences> Systems and in the Clefs section, change to Clefs in first system only.
If this is a new document set up from scratch, please look at section 5.8.1 in the manual! There is a setting in the New SmartScore Document window that you can uncheck to create a doc without clefs.

Re: First measure spacing
quote: Thanks for the info; I may do that in the future. However, I actually DO want the clefs and key signatures inserted. How can I re-space the document to achieve this?
Hi
We're jumping into the middle of this because the solution is very simple...
Simply find the correct clef and key signature from the Signatures Palette along the left edge of the window and insert them, as required, into each staff of the first system.
SmartScore will automatically make space for them by nudging symbols to the right. In addition, all subsequent systems will update automatically with the signatures you inserted (into the topmost system).
Hope this helps.

Re: First measure spacing
Then what you want to do is respace the measures, taking into consideration the added clef and key signature?
Does this help?
6.1.2 Adjusting measures
Measures can be compressed or expanded in Nudge mode. This may cause measures to scroll from system to system. Also, the number of measures per line may be set to a fixed number. These actions will cause the score to reformat.
For more details, see "Repositioning measures using barlines", Section7.5.6, on page 121. For setting fixed number of measures per system, see “Set Number of Mea- sures” in Section 7.3.2, "Staff Properties" on page 111.

Re: First measure spacing
Yes, I know how to move barlines. I wanted to find a 'global' control to accomplish the job in one operation. The various options in 'format score' don't seem to manage the task. I worked for years in "Music Printer Plus", which had a convenient 'reformat' function which worked great.
